{currently obsessed with…}

1. Courtney Kerr. I finally caught up, marathon-style, with Courtney Loves Dallas. I am officially obsessed! I love her blog, What Courtney Wore, and her look.

2. Courtney’s Hair. OBSESSED with her Big Texas hair, or, rather, her former hair (she just recently dyed it and chopped it off). I love the color and way she styles it. I actually canceled my hair appointment this week to darken my hair after watching the show!

Red Velvet Cupcake 14.5 oz. 3-Wick Candle - Slatkin & Co. - Bath & Body Works

3. Bath & Body Works Red Velvet Cupcake Candle. I got one for my birthday, and it smells amazing!

4. All-Clad 7-Qt. Deluxe Slow Cooker with Cast Aluminum Insert. My friend Karleigh turned me onto slow cooker recipes. It saves time on weeknights and helps me prepare “paleo” meals for my husband. This slow cooker is awesome! It has a lift-out insert to brown or sauté items on the stove and has a self-shutoff, keeping the food warm until you get home. Love it.

OPI Germany Collection Nail Lacquer, Every Month is Oktoberfest

5. OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest. Must have red nails in February…maybe with a little bit of sparkle.

6. Fashion Blogs. Besides Courtney’s blog, I’m obsessed with all things fashion this week, including adding a bunch of new fashion blogs to my daily reads. Among them, Krystal Schlegel’s blog.

Katie Holmes DIAMOND Initial Necklace - Your initial In 14K Solid Gold And Genuine Diamonds

7. Katie Holmes Diamond Initial Necklace. I have seen this necklace on celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian (she has an “M” and a “P” for her children). My mother-in-law also recently purchased one. Adorable.

8. My Publisher. I am in the process of sorting through over 10,000 photos on my computer (yikes!) and am working on FINALLY putting them into photo ablums. My Publisher has great software that’s easy to use and has great, modern layouts.

9. Artifact Uprising Instagram Album. This website is awesome. They have lots of photo book choices, but, best of all, they have a photo book specifically for your Instagram photos! I cannot wait to make one.

10. Michael Kors Runway Chronograph Watch. I got this watch for Christmas and am loving it right now!

11. South Florida Weather. The weather lately has been amazing! My favorite time of year. I want to spend all of my time outdoors right now. Beach weather!

A Day Trip to Farm Sanctuary

via Keepin’ It Kind

Today, I received an update from Kristy’s blog over at Keepin’ It Kind about Kristy’s family visit to Farm Sanctuary’s location in southern California.  “Farm Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and provides lifelong care for animals from stockyards, factory farms, and slaughterhouses.”

Becoming a vegan was an easy choice for me to make once my eyes were opened just a little bit (thanks to a good friend) and has been much easier to put into practice every day than I thought it would be.  It just takes a little bit of getting used to.  Perhaps the good karma and positive energy make it all that much easier.

Kristy’s post today reminded me why I do what I do and that the choices I make for my family can have a positive effect on the world around me.  Seeing the pictures like the one above and the rest on Kristy’s blog help to refuel the fire (as Kristy says) and the compassion within my heart.  Sometimes we do get lost in the day to day and forget why we make the choices that we do.  I needed this reminder today, so thanks to Kristy for visiting Farm Sanctuary and for your wonderful blog post.  It couldn’t have been more perfect for me today.  I look forward to the day when I can take my daughter to visit one of Farm Sanctuary’s locations and instill in her the same love for animals that I have.

{summer bucket list}

via Simple Details Are the Difference

Today, I’m putting together our “summer bucket list.”  You know, a list of goals and activities for you and your family to work on or do over the summer.  I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to make one for me and my family, so I pinned some ideas here.  Since summer officially begins June 21st and unofficially Memorial Day weekend, I figured I’d get a head start on making our list so we can start checking items off the list and having fun right away!  Here are some ideas for our summer bucket list.  Some of the items are for the entire family, some are geared for our toddler, and some are for the adults.  What’s on your summer bucket list?  Have you ever created a bucket list or one specific to a season?  Try it and see how many items you can check off this summer!
